One platform, multiple
industrial operating modes.

AI-PLC Core is more than a compact controller. It can run local control, expose remote I/O, generate Modbus RTU and TCP requests, simulate a Modbus device map, bridge data to MQTT-based systems, support future OPC UA interoperability and be developed in a modern VS Code and ESP-IDF workflow. The ESP32-S3 platform also provides hardware headroom for future TinyML / Edge AI functions.

Standalone Controller

Runs the control application locally using its own digital and analog I/O, allowing the system to keep operating even without SCADA, cloud or broker connectivity.

01 / LOCAL CONTROL

Remote I/O

Acts as a compact remote I/O node, exposing local digital and analog signals to external controllers, PLCs, HMIs or SCADA systems.

02 / REMOTE I/O

Modbus Gateway

Creates its own Modbus RTU Master and Modbus TCP Client requests to acquire data from external industrial devices and integrate them into the platform.

03 / MODBUS GATEWAY

Modbus Device Simulator

Can emulate a configurable virtual Modbus map with coils, discrete inputs, holding registers and input registers for HMI, SCADA, testing and commissioning workflows.

04 / SIMULATOR

MQTT / Edge Gateway

Publishes local data and Modbus-acquired variables to MQTT-based SCADA, edge and cloud applications, enabling lightweight industrial data integration.

05 / MQTT EDGE

VS Code Development

Application development is performed in Visual Studio Code, giving users a modern and familiar workflow for building and maintaining industrial applications.

ESP-IDF + Core API

Built around Espressif IDF and programmed through the AI-PLC Core API + SDK, combining low-level platform power with a higher-level application model.

OPC UA Ready

Architecture prepared for future OPC UA connectivity to expose structured process data, variables and diagnostics to industrial SCADA and interoperability platforms. Core OPC UA software support is planned and is not yet implemented.

Architecture

The product value is in the platform stack and deployment flexibility.

AI-PLC Core is defined by its own runtime, API and SDK. The Loong Socket module provides the compute foundation, while AI-PLC Core adds the software stack, the flexibility to work as a standalone controller, remote I/O node, Modbus gateway, simulator or MQTT edge device, a development workflow based on Visual Studio Code and Espressif IDF, planned OPC UA interoperability, and hardware capability for future TinyML / Edge AI workloads. OPC UA and TinyML / Edge AI Core software support are planned and not yet implemented.
